Why plan shots before you generate

Most AI video models produce one short clip per request, usually between 4 and 10 seconds. A 30-second social video is therefore five or six separate generations stitched together. When each prompt is written on the fly, the subject drifts, the lighting changes, and camera moves fight each other at the cuts. A simple shot list fixes that: you decide the story beats first, keep the subject and style text identical across shots, and change only the camera move and the action.

This planner keeps those parts separate on purpose. The subject and style fields stay the same while you add shots, so every prompt shares the same description. Only the camera move, the motion, and the duration change from shot to shot.

Choosing camera moves and motion strength

Camera language matters more than adjectives. A slow dolly in builds focus on a product; an orbit shows shape and material; a crane up works as an opening or closing reveal. If you are new to this, read a short primer on AI motion control to see how direction words map to real camera paths.

Motion strength is the other lever. "Subtle" suits product shots and portraits where you want steam, hair or fabric to move a little. "Dynamic" suits action and sport but raises the risk of warped hands and faces. A good rule is one strong movement per shot: either the camera moves a lot or the subject does, not both.

From shot list to finished clip

Once your list is ready, copy the prompts and generate each shot in order. If you are starting from a still photo or product render, an image to video tool keeps the first frame locked to your reference, which makes consistency much easier. These tips for image-to-video cover resolution, framing and how to avoid the "melting" look.

Stuck on wording? Browse an AI video prompt library for camera and lighting phrases that work, or read this guide on how to write AI video prompts. If you want the whole process handled for you, from shot planning to final render, Oraclip, an AI motion control video agent, can take a brief and produce the sequence end to end.
